There are of course plenty of pre-built model cars on the market but this racer car kit gets a child to actually get to grips with building their own racer. Children usually learn best when they are enjoying themselves and they will soak up this stuff without even realising that they are learning. The Heli Mission radio controlled model pack was recently rated number one of all RC Flying toys by the Gadget Show. It has an RC truck which carries round inside it an RC helicopter with both controlled by a dual function rc controller. You drive the truck about and then when you are ready to launch your Heli Mission the truck opens up and the Helicopter flies out from inside the truck. Its great fun and the models are very tough and reliable. Given that there are two RC models in this pack its quite amazing that it can be found on sale for less than £60.

The PicooZ has been the entry level standard for anyone wanting a straightforward , easy to fly but reliable radio controlled helicopter. EverythingPlay are now offering the excellent X-Rotor Picoo Z Radio Controlled Helicopter for only £29.95 which is really a superb prce for this wonderful little helicopter. The PicooZ like other micro helicopters is mainly designed for indoor flight - it really comes into it's own when you have it zooming up and around the living room testing out you flying skills as you zoom in and our and around the furniture. Heck you could even buzz the cat! It can be flown outside though as long as the conditions are dead calm.

The PicooZ is very robust but all rc helicopters tend to break a rot9r blade very occasionally and the spares for the PicooZ are very easy to get and are not at all expensive. You are more likely to suffer a broken rotor blade when you are first learning so it's a good idea to have a spare rotor set from the start. Child size acoustic guitar for under £40

If you want to encourage your child's musical ability then it's never too early to get them interested in playing a musical instrument. The problem with getting a guitar for a child is that guitars which are small enough for a child are often little more than toys. Boys just go wild for radio controlled toys and flying radio controlled toys in particular are very popular. Usually these rc toys tend to be either helicopters or planes but there are some more unusual and interesting radio controlled models that you can get if you are looking for a more unusual flying present. We like rc helicopters - which is why a lot of the posts here are about great rc helicopters. But some other rc models are just so darned brilliant that they are begging for a plug.
